From Prythian to Product: How Knix x ACOTAR™ Came to Life

How do you turn a world readers have imagined for years into something they can actually wear?

That was the challenge behind ACOTAR x Knix, launching October 15.

The A Court of Thorns and Roses universe already feels incredibly visual: star-filled skies over Velaris, roses in eternal bloom, the sparkling coast of Adriata, forests lit by flame.

But translating those worlds into a collection meant going beyond recognizable symbols.

We wanted to capture the romance, power, softness and drama of ACOTAR—and turn all of it into prints, silhouettes and details that still felt unmistakably Knix.

And the deeper we went, the more there was to bring to life.

Designing a World You Can Wear

The starting point was the Courts themselves.

Night became celestial and moody. Spring romantic and lush. Summer airy and sun-soaked. Autumn rich, fiery and full of movement.

Those moods became the visual language for the collection.

Every print began as original artwork, hand-drawn by an ACOTAR-obsessed designer on our own team.

Velaris Night Sky turns the stars and constellations above Velaris into a celestial print. Spring Court Bloom leans into romantic florals. Adriata Toile transforms the Summer Court into an illustrated coastal landscape filled with architecture, ships, shells and treasures.

Ink That Binds takes a more abstract approach, turning the connection between Feyre and Rhysand into flowing, tattoo-like linework. Ember Fox captures Autumn through a flame-tailed fox moving among falling leaves.

Some prints are immediately recognizable. Others are a little more subtle.

But each one brings something from the books into a new form, with details that feel right at home in Prythian.

When Characters Become Clothes

The Courts gave us one way into the world.

The characters gave us another.

Five new styles were created specifically for ACOTAR x Knix, each inspired by a character or moment fans know by heart.

The Nesta Corset channels Nesta’s strength and fire through a structured, dramatic silhouette.

The Feyre Lace Teddy and Court of Nightmares Sheer Skirt were designed to layer together, taking their cues from Feyre’s unforgettable turn in the Court of Nightmares.

The Starfall Robe & Slip Set brings the romance of Feyre’s Starfall night into soft, fluid layers.

Elain’s quiet power inspired a lace thong bodysuit and sheer skirt pairing, while satin and lace slip dresses draw from the distinct personalities of Amren and Morrigan.

The challenge was finding ways to capture what makes each character or moment so memorable, while designing pieces you'd genuinely want in your wardrobe.

Fantasy, Without the Costume

Of course, that brought up another question: how far do you take the fantasy?

Too little, and you lose the magic.

Too much, and suddenly you’re designing something that feels more like a costume than part of your actual closet.

So we kept coming back to the middle.

Romantic lace. Fluid satin. Sheer layers. Sculpted silhouettes. Familiar references, reimagined through the lens of Knix.

The collection still had to feel wearable, comfortable and functional—whether you’re getting dressed up, lounging at home or reading one more chapter at 2 a.m.

The fantasy is there.

You just don’t need a masquerade invitation to wear it.

The World Didn’t Stop at the Clothes

Once the collection was finished, there was still one more thing to design:

The world around it.

Even the backdrops used in the campaign photography were hand-painted, with a different atmosphere created for each Court.

From the colors to the textures, every set was designed to bring the collection's inspiration into the real world.

It was the same hands-on approach that shaped the prints and silhouettes, carried all the way through to the campaign itself.

Because if you're going to enter Prythian, you might as well build the whole world.

From Page to Product

What started on the page became hand-drawn prints, character-inspired silhouettes and an entire world built around them.

Our own little piece of Prythian, brought to life.

A little fantasy, made to be worn.
